eBulletin: 27 January 2008 Welcome to Pilot Knob Lutheran Church Pray for the Following: Florence Nye, Donna Ranheim’s niece, Amanda Simmons (Iraq); Louis and Dorothea Escobedo (missionaries) trip to India; Safety for our military; Government; Revival; AALC; Persecuted Christians Personal Memory Bank: “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” —John 20:31 (NIV) Today’s Quiz: After Seraiah read Jeremiah’s letter of doom upon Babylon what did he do with it? Read Jeremiah 51. Today’s guest speaker is Dr. Timothy Schmidt, professor emeritus at Waldorf College, and concert pianist and harpsichordist. Dr. Schmidt has recently returned from a mission trip to China and Hong Kong. A soup luncheon will be held from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. on February 2, hosted by the church council. Sign up to make pies and invite a friend or neighbor. Matching funds are being applied for through Thrivent Financial and the offering will go towards retiring the mortgage. Ash Wednesday Communion Service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Feb. 6. The theme of this year’s Lenten service is: “The Seven Cs of History.” Beginning Feb. 13 we will learn about Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Christ, Cross, Consummation. Passover Seder Meal conducted by “Jews for Jesus” will be March 15. In the event of adverse weather, it may be necessary for Sunday services to be cancelled. If they are, it will be announced on the following radio stations: KJLY, KCMR, KIOW, KGLO, KIMT. If you think you missed the announcement you may call Pastor Bob. I am asking for your support, prayer and financial support. We are putting together a table about Abstinence until Marriage at Waldorf College. We need prayer support that God be the center of this mission and also financial support to order the literature and other things for the students to take with them. There will be a box for donations available after the service. God Bless you, Lydia. Food for thot: My mother taught me about HYPOCRISY: “If I yelled because I saw a meteor coming toward you; would you listen THEN?” Did you miss a service and would like to hear the sermon, or refer the message to someone else? Are you up for a daily quiz? Connect to www.pilotknob.org. Are you up for a quiz of the day and a test your knowledge of the Bible? It can be a growing experience. Link for a kids’ web site: www.kidsanswers.org. They'll love the fun and you will love the safe, creator-honoring entertainment that awaits them. Pilot Knob’s Purpose Statement: |
