Homepage Message: August 2007

Another year of Vacation Bible School has come and gone and proved to be an exciting week. Our theme was "The Great Coral Reef, Diving Deep into God's Word."
We dove into the story of Moses and the care that was shown. Also Naaman who was helped by others leading to his healing of leprosy. We dove into the Lake of Gennesaret when Jesus called his disciple Simon Peter to trust him and follow. Then Jesus startles everyone by healing a man born blind. Contrary to popular opinion his blindness was not caused by sin. The blind man believed and from darkness he came into the light. The last day we talked about foundations. How important it is to listen to God's word and apply it to our lives, thus providing a foundation that will support eternal life and the storms that come our way.
We praise God for the 46 kids that attended and 14 adults. They all came from surrounding churches including a good crew from Bethel Lutheran who also helped with the teaching.
Our offering went to support Faith Comes By Hearing, and the translation of the New Testament into audio format so the Moken people of Myanmar may hear the gospel in their own language. Most of them are illiterate and cannot read the Bible. We raised enough money, ($948), to record the gospel of Matthew. This is great news and God is worthy of all praise.
As a gift from Faith Comes by Hearing, each of the students at VBS received a free CD with the narration of the stories of the entire Bible. With everyone's help and God's great love and mercy, we want to do our part in getting the gospel—the power of salvation—into the hands and heart of the Moken people.
It costs $948 for each book, or $25,600, for the New Testament to be recorded. We as a congregation are rising to the challenge of providing for the gospel of Mark to be recorded. If you are so moved by the Lord to help with this mission project, you may mail your contribution to Pilot Knob Lutheran Church, 636 N. 4th St., Forest City, Iowa, 50436. |
