Who we are
The history of Pilot Knob Lutheran Church has its roots in the immigration of Scandinavian families to north central Iowa in the mid-nineteenth century. Our congregation formed as Ellington Lutheran Church in 1875 at the home of Gunder Kivle. In 1901, our first church building was built; dedicated in 1902.
With that building damaged by fire in July 2000, our congregation built a new building across the road. The building was dedicated in 2003.
Today Pilot Knob Lutheran Church maintains a mission to worship God and proclaim His Word so people experience salvation in Jesus, mature in the faith, and equip all to serve in the church and world.
